The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race

The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race jumps out of the chute on Fourth Avenue for the ceremonial start in Anchorage tomorrow at10am. For the next two weeks you should make the Iditarod’s website your home page.

Here is everything you ever wanted to know but were afraid to ask about mushing dogs eleven hundred miles over ice, snow and overflow. You can also follow the trail behind Jeff Schultz, who photographs the race from well before the beginning to the burlwood arch in Nome.

You can also subscribe to the free Iditarod Newsletter here

which means you also immediately get an equally free e-copy of Fire and Ice, the first Liam Campbell novel.

A little later in the race you’ll get another absolutely free gift, which we’re not telling you about yet because we’re trying to get you all curious and excited. Trust me when I tell you, you’ll like it.

In the meantime, enjoy the race! I’ve seen the beginning of it in Anchorage (see tomorrow’s post) and the end of it in Nome, and one day I’d love to see more of the middle. It truly is the Last Great Race.
